Accidental Brilliance Superfood + Supplememt Series...Avocados


Without a doubt one of my favorite foods is the avocado, from the delicious taste all the way down to the luxurious oil. Not a day goes by where I don't use the oil in the shower and smooth it on my face every morning. But the creamy delicious fruit is one of the most misunderstood foods out there. More common than not people steer clear of the fruit assuming it is high in fat and calories forgetting that there are such things as good fats which actually speed up the metabolism. Not only are avocados full of the good fats they are incredibly rich in vitamins, nutrients and minerals. They are also a great source of protein and fiber, sorta makes sense why they are considered a perfect food for babies. Credited with helping to protect the body against cancer, heart disease and arthritis there is no reason to not get more of this fruit into your life. Here is an easy and great guacamole recipe from Rosa Mexicano a favorite Mexican restaurant, or just spread some on a slice of whole grain toast with olive oil and hot pepper flakes. And did you know that avocado oil is a natural sunscreen ? I know this stuff does it all.
