Accidental Brilliance Superfood + Supplement Series...Watermelon



There is nothing better than sinking your teeth into a cold piece of watermelon on a hot summer day. But, did you know that not only is it the most refreshing fruit out there, it is also super duper good for you. An excellent source of vitamin A and all the good antioxidants that go along with it, high in vitamin C which helps strengthen immunity, heal wounds and prevent cell damage. Loaded with vitamin B6 which helps brain function and converts protein to energy. And get this, watermelon has the highest concentration of lycopene of any fruit or vegetable, even beats tomatoes so, it fights heart disease and wards off several types of cancer. Especially great on hot days as well because it helps to maintain the proper balance of electrolytes. Although there is nothig better than a big slice all by its lonesome, this is a yummy and simple smoothie recipe...

...and another great idea is take a few cups of watermelon, the juice of 2 or 3 limes, 1 1/2 cups of water and a tiny, tiny bit of natural sweetener. Whip it up in the blender for a pitcher full of  really refreshing Watermelon Water.
