Accidental Brilliance Superfood + Supplement Series...Lavender

Over the years I have studied a lot about essential oils and herbs and their use in alternative medicine. Although there are some that have more healing properties,  lavender is one of the most widely used herbs out there. Well known for it's calming scent, it is an excellent tonic for the nerves and can even help lower blood pressure. Containing a chemical called linalyl, it acts as an instant muscle relaxer. Proven to help treat migraines, nervous tension and emotional stress to name just a few. It is also known to effectively treat insomnia, I keep a tiny bottle of it next to my bed mixed with a few other oils and right before bed, I inhale the sweet scent to try to induce restful sleep. If you have sore or tense muscles, add a few drops into your favorite massage oil, it is said to be a very effective treatment for muscle aches. And if your looking for a natural way to zap mosquitoes and moths, lavender is the way to go. For the days when you have a little extra time to luxuriate in the shower, here is a simple scrub that guarantees soft skin...

* check with your doctor if you are pregnant before using any herbs and supplements.
