Accidental Brilliance Trendspotting...Ankle Length Pants
...as the weather is warming up here in NY, I am spotting lots of shorter pants on the streets. Yesterday J.Crew previewed their Fall 2011 collection and there were plenty of ankle length pants. Whether the jeans are cuffed or the colors are bright, there is just something about showing a little ankle that is so pretty.

Can't take my eyes off...The Artwork of Michael Carson
Can't take my eyes off the slightly blurred, serious faces of Michael Carson's subjects. They all seem to be waiting on something, waiting for something and somehow despite this look of longing, seem content and there is something really calm about that...that notion that even in the unknown there is comfort to be found.

Accidental Brilliance Superfood + Supplement Series...Seaweed
There are not that many things in this world that at one time can be exhilarating, the most calming way to fall asleep and also a hotbed full of nutrients. The ocean is just one of those special wonders of nature and the seaweed found in the ocean is one of the best things you can include in your diet, but don't just wait until you have sushi, the benefits are so great...why not include it in your daily diet. Seaweed is rich in all the minerals we need in sufficient amounts as well as significant amounts of B-vitamins, A, C, niacin, folic acid and pantothenic acid. It has been known to promote mental youthfulness, regulate hormones, assist the metabolism, promote youthful skin color, feed the shafts of the scalp to help improve the health of hair and cleanse the body of toxins. You can buy dried seaweed as a snack in most markets and if you have a Trader Joe's nearby I totally recommend their Roasted Seaweed Snack, these things are better than potato chips and way better for you.
Alicia Silverstone...Accidental Brilliance Monday Muse
...muse worthy for her dedication to the environment, a vegan lifestyle and her concept and book The Kind Diet. The book is a great resource with delicious recipes that encourages us to be kinder to our bodies and the planet in many ways, including what we eat. Even if you aren't considering becoming a vegan, this book is worth taking a look at. I am also a fan of her blog The Kind Life.

...I have posted about my love of a great big wooden table in the kitchen but these photos are reason enough to write again about what a great addition they make to any kitchen, traditional, modern big or small...they just make you want to sit down for a long while and eat, talk, laugh and relax.
Deposit for the Style Files...
Spring is just about here and switching over the closet and getting into the groove of your warmer weather look sometimes takes a minute...in the meantime there are always those few pieces that just work for the start of sunny days. A lighter pair of worn in jeans or faded denim shirt, and this season for sure a wide leg jean, a neutral blouse to dress up or down, a little blazer with a great big scarf for the days when it is still a little chilly and of course a dependable dress you can just throw on and it seems like this season whatever length works best for you is the way to go because the stores are full of ultra long or super short options. Here's to brighter, lighter days !

...I put these guys on my list of best albums for 2010 and this one does not disappoint for the start of 2011.
Flutter...
I recently watched a television show where they were discussing the question of happiness...they touched upon all the things that quite possibly make us each happy. They never mentioned the flutter, that feeling of being involved in something, or with someone where you find passion that makes sense of it all...a purpose, something that makes our heart flutter like the wings of butterfly. We are each here for a different purpose, to learn and teach different lessons and for a different amount of time...but we all must find happiness, that flutter, I think most of all.

Harvey Faircloth
Not sure how I first happened upon Harvey Faircloth last year but the story behind the brand has stuck with me and I really like this season's billowy sleeves, canvas totes and classic natural leather huaraches...and the sneak peek into their inspiration board for the collection is neat as well. The company was started by three friends and is " dedicated to creating spirited off-kilter classics for modern women ". Who is Harvey Faircloth ? He was an elegant older gentleman that one of the girls sat next to at a wedding when she was much younger who gave her some good advice..."follow to your dreams" he said, " we must press on regardless ". Good advice and good fashion sorta great combination isn't it ?

...a few of my favorites on their inspiration board, to see the rest check out their website here.

Inspiration Found. Elizabeth Taylor
Inspiration found today in the beauty of Elizabeth Taylor and in her loyal friendship to my all time favorite crush Rock Hudson. In a time where movie studios built personas and the audience unlike today knew little about the person behind the movie star status, she loyaly defended her friend Rock who was not openly gay at the time. After his passing from AIDS she helped co-found amfAR and helped lead the crusade in the fight against AIDS. The amfAR site has set up an easy way to donate to AIDS research in honor of Ms.Taylor and continue in her exemplary footsteps. And to see the on screen chemisty of Elizabeth and Rock I highly recommend the movie Giant. For a dose of pure Rock Hudson, Pillow Talk is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. They don't make movie stars like that anymore is all I can say.

Accidental Brilliance Superfood + Supplement Series...Royal Jelly
It's not just beautiful flowers that bees get the credit for giving us, thanks to bees one of the most powerful and beneficial superfoods around is Royal Jelly. Without a doubt it contains all the nutrients to give potent increased levels of energy, vitality and a variety of amazing health benefits. Rich in minerals, natural hormones, B vitamins, fatty acids and folic acid, there is a reason they call this stuff royal. Royal Jelly is a creamy substance secreted by the worker bees in the beehive for the nourishment of the queen bee. The queen bee starts life in the hive just like any worker bee, she is randomly chosen by the worker bees for queen status and fed a diet exclusively of royal jelly. Remarkably she lives forty times longer than the average bee, five years versus the average six week life span of a worker bee who does not eat royal jelly...sort of amazing and it is all due to the power of nutritional value of the royal jelly. In humans the results are pretty amazing when eaten as well, stronger hair and nails, regulated hormones, help with infertility, help with cholesterol and blood pressure problems and the list goes on and on, this stuff is remarkable for improving and strengthening your health in so many areas. Of all the superfoods and supplements you can take bee products give you the biggest bang for the buck and the best results.
Before taking any bee product be sure you have no allergy to bees or bee stings. Not all royal jelly is the same so research the brand you are buying to be sure you are getting pure royal jelly. So far the best royal jelly I have found is Y.S. Royal Jelly, available at Whole Foods and most helath food stores.

READS. The Art of Possibility...
You know those books you pull off the shelf to look back on or maybe even read again ? The Art of Possibility is one of those books. It gently inspires you to look at how you view your life and realize that you are the artist of your life, it is your creation. It is full of suggestions and advice to help you realize the possibilities that await you if you are open to them. There are so many great mini lessons it is hard to pick the best ones...
+ We make our own boundaries and set our own limits.
+ You always have something to give, give it from where you are.
+Lighten up and enjoy the trip.
+You are the board upon which the game is played, you control the pieces.
Sometimes you need a little something to inspire you to truly believe in yourself and trust that you do know what is best for you and realize that if you ask for it, work hard and open yourself to it, you will get it.
Rainbow Brights...
...it's beginning to look a lot like Spring in NYC, buds are starting to sprout on the trees and flowers are peaking through the dirt after a long winter's nap. The bright colors of nature are just about ready to bloom and the stores are full of all sorts of rainbow brights, lately loving all the amazing colorful flats. And, isn't this wedding cake just...simply magical.

Accidental Brilliance Superfood & Supplement Series...Kombucha Tea
I have posted about this stuff before but I have been working on a big project lately and sipping on this along the way. Without a doubt this stuff is addicting...to rejuvenate, restore , recharge and revitalize grab a bottle of raw kombucha tea. I like GT's but, there are a few good ones on the market. Kombucha tea goes as far back as 221 BC in the Chinese Tsin Dynasty and has been said to have near-magical healing powers. Although at first the taste takes some getting used to, once you try it a few times you won't be able to get enough of the stuff. Kombucha supports digestion, metabolism, immune system, appetite control, liver function, body alkalinity, anti-aging, cell integrity and healthy skin and hair, and it really gives you a little boost in the energy department. Do I need to say more...this stuff rocks.
