Tonight marks the sixth year of Earth Hour the worlwide event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to remind us that, we can all make a difference to help the environment. Earth Hour was conceived by WWF and The Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead at 8:30 pm on the last March of the year millions of people in more than 131 countries have banded together in solidarity for Mother Nature and turned off the lights. I have done it each year since and encourage you tonight to turn off the lights, put a few candles on for an hour. In small ways we are all capable of big things, and it is also a nice way to really disconnect for an evening and just be and connect to something bigger than ourselves.

...because it is all around you, wherever you look there is something that is beautiful. Find it, the beauty...in every face you meet, place you go and thought you have. Open your eyes because this moment will never ever happen again.

...this one is called ease your mind and, something about it does just that. Somehow we find the time to do everything but, we never really take the time to just let go and give our mind a break from all the thinking and the rethinking. Let go and ease your mind...

...so there is no denying I love a good pair of white jeans (Hudson my long standing favorite) but white just always seems the best way to usher in Spring and the best way to run right into Summer. I never tire of a little crisp white inspiration.

There is no doubt that when it comes to stress, we all have way too much of it and not nearly enough ways to get rid of it. There is just no way around it, it is dangerous for the mind, body and spirit. Most of us know that when you’re under stress, your body releases the hormone cortisol. Cortisol unfortunately makes your body store fat not to mention that stress also does a number on our ability to sleep and think straight so anytime I hear of a natural option that might help I always take a minute to check it out. Recently heard about a supplement called Relora which is made from the extracts of two plants used for thousands of years by Chinese herbalists to promote relaxation. Clinical studies have shown that Relora can help relieve feelings of anxiety. I say if it helps on the road to relaxation this might be worth looking a little further into for sure.

...and that is the key, walk the path, keep walking the path. And although it might not always be straight and narrow, it will be the unexpected twists and turns that will make it more than you expected, make you more than you were. Keep going because there is so much more for you to do, to see and to be...

...because there are things that you can not change.Yes there are things that you wish you had done differently but believe that you did the best you could at the time and when you knew better you did better, will do better. Just let it go because holding onto it is not worth it. Remember to be gentle to yourself, with yourself. Just let it be because one way or another it will all be okay, that I know.

...hope I'll never wake when i'm thinking about you, somehow that line always stuck with me as did the song. This one playin' on repeat today, the album was titled Static and Silence, and I suppose life could in many instances be simplified down to static and silence, you decide which.
Perhaps because as of late I am feeling super exhausted and there is nothing that sounds better than finding a place to just chill, really chill and disconnect, The Panchoran Retreat sounds just about right, right about now. Situated next to the cultural center of Bali it is a perfect little oasis where your own private villa becomes your own bit of zen. There are seven villas on the grounds and one large meeting house with an enormous country kitchen where everyone meets to eat the amazing local, organic food of the region. With little else to do but nap, have massages, practice yoga, read, relax or swim in your private pool late night, the only question is, how long are we staying and how many bathing suits should we pack...

...because at different times and for different reasons this song has fit into the spaces in my heart, filling the places that were left open by missed chances, or people that had turned out differently than I had imagined or opportunities that didn't quite fit. I have listened to it so many times and a few years back on a drive up the Pacific Coast Highway in Northern California it played loudly and I realized that although life leaves you with spaces or tiny holes in your heart, it is part of the journey. That afternoon the lyrics meant something different and because I suppose the journey won't always be easy I realized surrounded by the beauty of the drive that yes the journey and the tiny holes are worthwhile. All we need to do is have faith that all the chances we are supposed to have, the people we are meant to meet and the opportunities we are meant to have will all show up in their own time and right on time.

So if you've been around here awhile you know that I believe in eating healthy and taking vitamins and supplements to get the most out of your body, skin, hair and spirit. Lately I have been busy and slacking a little on a few of my regular vitamins and supplements and running low on a few others. Running out wasn't such a big deal because I got to see what not taking certain ones did or didn't do for me. I usually take a dose of MSM powder daily and not having it has made a difference. MSM is an organic sulfur compound that detoxifies the body. It also helps on the road to maintaining healthy hair and skin. There are so many other amazing benefits to this supplement from enabling cells to release toxins to increasing the bodies ability to metabolize carbohydrates. It is also great for building collagen and supple wrinkle free skin by improving the skins structure. I have written about it before but after running out of it I realized just how important it has become in my daily regime. You can find it at most health food stores and it is so simple to take just dissolve a dose of this wonder powder into water and drink to good health.

...and in the pursuit of true happiness it is our job to get out of our own way, to quiet the doubts and fears that occupy the spaces in our mind...the places that can be filled with all the things we have not yet tried, all the people we have not met and things we have not done. It's a concious decision to allow life to unfold as it was meant to, to move out of the way of what could be.

And if you never begin, you will never be able to see what is meant to be yours and you deserve it, the best of everything. So, begin...begin anywhere.

Late last night when sleep would not come this like a lullaby softly played as did the many conversations I had had over the day. In pieces and flashes they all came back separately but when strung together they made a certain bit of sense. " Do you think you have been here before, was the most important question someone asked me and I want to come back to be with you again was the most important thought someone shared with me ". Of course I have been here before and yes I really hope we meet again as well.

When it comes to superfoods, cooking with them and eating them is not the only way to reap the benefits. Been traveling a lot lately and I feel like my skin is suffering because of it, it needed a little extra care so I pulled out two of my favorite, super duper simple at home skin masks that guarantee exfoliated and hydrated skin. The best part is, you probably have most of the ingredients in the kitchen already. If you are looking to exfoliate, the oatmeal gets rid of dead skin cells and lemon acts as a natural toner. If its hydration your after, the essential fatty acids of the avocado will do the trick, and the honey is one of my most favorite ingredients in the pursuit of soft skin. If you don't have time to do a full mask, my super quick trick is to smooth a teaspoon of honey preferably raw on your face and leave it on for a few minutes, then just wash off with warm water. Super skin is just a few simple ingredients away.

...although usually I fall partial to long straight hair there is something about letting the natural wave go to get that perfectly messy look. Doesn't matter if I wear it straight or with a bit of wave there are a few favorite tricks that help keep hair shiny and healthy. Massage a few drops of jojoba oil on the scalp and ends right before bed or work a bit of coconut oil on the ends (be sure to rinse with shampoo twice) and get a good pair of scissors and snip the dead ends every few weeks. Once in awhile letting it go a little wild feels sorta freeing and totally muse worthy.

Pulled out a few of my favorite little black jacket stylin' ideas as I await the first hint of Spring and the days where heavy coats and hats can be put away in the back of the closet, way far back. Doesn't matter how old or young you are, day or night- the little black jacket just works on anyone. And for those who can rock the little black short suit- do it ! Sorta unexpected, super sexy and somehow sweet all at once. And come to think of it that just might be the perfect way to be described...so get out there and be unexpected, be sexy and be sweet !
