There is nothing truer than the thought that you can only control your actions + because there will always be people who will act differently than you expect, the only thing to do is know that you can not change the way you act or change your actions. Life can be boiled down to many different ideas, lessons + purposes but intrinsic to all of them is how you treat people + how you handle situations...no matter where you have been or where you are going, that truly is what life is about, of that I am certain.

Seriously...don't let it get you, there is nothing and nobody who is worth it. Keep on going + just brush it off. Find your purpose + move in the direction of it surrounded by people who get you, appreciate you + let you be you.

If I were asked what is the most important part of a person although I am confident it is their soul that I look to first and I suppose last, there is indeed a fascination with their mind. The other day someone asked me how certain people can do certain things and I suppose it is because many keep their minds divided into rooms with closed doors. Behind each door a different experience, relationship, memory, fantasy + layer of the soul lives. And because we will never know why people do and say certain things, the only thing we can do is be aware of what it is we do and what we say + keep the doors of our mind open.
When it comes to decor I tend to think you should try to bring out your personality and inner spirit so, it is no wonder that I fell in love with the home of Heidi Middleton co-founder of Sass and Bide when I saw it. She has got it down, a little mysterious + ethnic, a little beachy with lots of simplicity + laid-back ease.

...there is beauty in the thought that it will all be okay. I suppose it is a leap of faith especially on the days which for one reason or another seem harder. But it is worth it, worth believing that life will find a way to make it all okay. It's about taking the leap and knowing that with each risk you take you are telling the universe that you want more, that you are ready for more.
...in the morning before he left he would kiss her goodbye and just as he walked out the door turn back to take one last look at her. One morning she asked him why he always looked back, he said because it didn't matter how many years passed he still couldn't believe that she was his, all his forever.

Chia seed is an ancient superfood that is a member of the sage family (Salvia Hispanica). The little black and white seeds were once a staple of the Incan, Mayan and Aztec cultures, along with the Native Americans of the southwest. Chia is actually the Mayan word for strength. The seeds were used by these ancient cultures as mega-energy food, and give an incredibly 'sustaining' surge of energy. Chia is also great to boost strength, level out blood sugar and induce weight loss. Chia has been called a dieter's dream food because when added to foods, it bulks them up, displacing calories and fat without diluting the flavour. So it is like cutting the typical portion in half because you only end up consuming about half the calories you might have eaten, but because the food has been bulked up with chia you are still getting the nutrient-rich superfood. Chia also slows the impact of sugars on the system, if eaten together. Chia gel creates a physical barrier between carbohydrates and the digestive enzymes that break them down, which slows the conversion of carbs into sugar. That means the energy from the food is released steadily, resulting in more endurance. To make a basic chia gel, simply add 1/3 cup of seeds (2oz) to 2 cups of water. Stir the mixture well, to avoid clumping, then leave it in your fridge, in a sealed jar. This will yield around 17oz of chia gel. You can begin to eat the gel almost immediately if you like. Just 10 minutes is enough time for the gel to be formed. More of the nutrients will be easily accessible after a few hours however, so many people like to make up a batch like this and leave it in the fridge. It will stay good for about three weeks. Then you can just reach into the fridge and take out some of the ready-made gel whenever you need it. Add it to smoothies, mix it with salad dressings, puddings or granola, or simply take it by the spoonful. This is one superfood that is enjoying a big hype right now but delivers on it's promise. ...amazing + so simple the idea that it does just take one word to bring the peace that someone is looking for. In many ways we are all searching for it, the thought, the person, the place that will bring us peace. I suppose we must be careful with the words we choose because we can never be sure how they might be heard, might be taken. Choose carefully because each choice will lead to the

Keep your head up...keep your heart strong no matter what life puts in your path. Do it because it is the best way to live, it is the only way to live. Remember that you can't go backwards to go forwards, just press on with your head up...proud and blessed that you have this moment and the chance to make it count. Heart strong, walk on with the knowing that you are moving in the right direction.

The other day someone said to me that they didn't think they could believe in themselves unless someone first believed in them, and I thought for a moment about how important it is to believe...in ourselves and all that we can accomplish. My reply was plain + simple, you must believe in yourself. If you want to accomplish something you must first expect if from yourself. Believe in yourself no matter what, there is nothing that you can't do once you put your mind to it.
Doesn't matter if you are the host this Summer or lucky enough to be a house guest there are tons of simple and quick entertaining tricks that really highlight the season. These are just a few of my faves to get the Summer season underway. What better way to add a bit of life to any drink or pitcher of water ? Add your favorite berries or slices of lemon/lime or even fresh sprigs of rosemary or mint to your ice cube tray before freezing. And, for the most refreshing way to get your fruits in for the day, stack all your favorites into an ice pop mold. Ever wonder what to do with the paper cartons that your berries come in from the market ? They make the most perfect holder for flowers on your Summer dinner table. As I always say simple is best and in this case simple is seasonal.

I have always found the allure of Bali to be one of the most tempting destinations. Maybe because I love the idea of a trip where all you need is a bikini + a sarong. I don't think there is anything more relaxing than wrapping yourself up in a sarong (that goes for the guys as well) and just relaxing in the sun. The Alila Villas in Uluwatu, Bali just might be the most perfect spot to get your relaxation on. Warm white sand, crashing waves for surfing, beautiful deserted temples to meditate in and amazing local culture + food all set against the beauty + spirituality of Bali.

There is a beautiful Anais Nin quote that I read many, many years ago and have always kept in the back of my thoughts...life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage. Truly it does, life rises up to meet you if you are brave...with courage life opens doors you were not even aware existed.

Some foods are delicious and some are good for you, watermelon is one of those foods that is both, packed full of nutrition and hydrates all at the same time. While many of us think of watermelon as a great snack option, when you tally up its nutritive value, you might consider making this all-star a feature player in your diet. Watermelons are an excellent source of several vitamins: vitamin A, which helps maintain eye health and is an antioxidant; vitamin C, which helps strengthen immunity, heal wounds, prevent cell damage, promote healthy teeth and gums; and vitamin B6, which helps brain function and helps convert protein to energy. Tomatoes have been highly touted as a great source for lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that helps fight heart disease and several types of cancer but, did you know that watermelon has the highest concentration of lycopene of any fresh fruit or vegetable around. It is a great source of potassium, which helps muscle and nerve function, helps maintain the body's proper electrolyte, and helps lower the risk of high blood pressure. I mean need I say more...well only that it also makes the perfect treat after a long day at the beach, so throw on your bikini and pack a few slices.

There is something so beautiful about the lotus flower, the notion that it is born under water, grows underwater and when ready rises from the water in full bloom. I wonder often if it is not only a metaphor of self growth but of certain relationships as well. Perhaps there are people we meet and we are not ready for, with time + in their own time like the lotus- rise out of the water, fully ready to bloom, to be...where what were the imperfections are now what make it perfect.
